One-day trials have historically uncovered stars like Amos Nondi and Cliff Nyakeya, but relying on them shortchanges Kenyan football. Short trials favor early-maturing, physically imposing players over technically gifted late bloomers while leaving selectors vulnerable to cognitive bias and snap judgments. To build sustainable continuity for the Junior Harambee Stars, the Football Kenya Federation and clubs must shift toward long-term scouting embedded in established competitions like KSSSA games and FKF Youth Leagues. Utilizing disaggregated performance data, video analysis, character assessments, and centralized player bio-data will ensure fairer selection, curb age cheating, and secure Kenya's long-term football pipeline.
