The intern will produce website content, match reports, player features, interviews, newsletters and social media updates while covering the club’s activities, matches and events. Sports Journalist Intern
Nyayo Rising Stars is seeking a passionate and creative Sports Journalist Intern to join our communications and digital media team.
The successful candidate will help tell the Nyayo Rising Stars story by producing engaging content for the club’s website, social media platforms and other digital communication channels.
Key Responsibilities.
-Write and publish blogs, sports stories, match reports and player features.
-Research football and sports-related topics for digital publication.
-Cover club activities, training sessions, matches and events.
-Conduct interviews with players, coaches, officials and supporters.
-Assist in developing content for the club’s website and social media platforms.
-Edit and proofread written content before publication.
-Support the creation of newsletters, announcements and other digital communication materials.
-Ensure that published content is accurate, engaging and consistent with the club’s image.
-Stay updated on football and sports news, trends and developments.
Requirements
Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills.
Passion for football and sports journalism.
Ability to research, verify and present information clearly.
Good command of written English.
Creativity and enthusiasm for digital content creation.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital communication.
Added Advantage
Familiarity with Content Management Systems such as WordPress or Wix.
Experience writing sports articles, blogs or match reports.
Basic knowledge of search engine optimisation, photography, video or social media content creation.
Academic background in journalism, communication, media studies or a related field.
